Seth Low Junior High School, Brooklyn
UCA, State Assemblyman William Colton, Lafayette High School students and assistant
principal Iris Chiu, AMICO Senior Center, and guest Kung Fu masters teamed together and produced a
spectacular Chinese Cultural Show on March 11, 2006 at Seth Low Junior High School.
The goal of this show was to entertain the community and at the same time promote
appreciation of Chinese Art.
The team performed a variety of programs including Peacock Dance, Kung Fu (Long Fist),
Chinese Folk Dance, Karate, Fashion Show, Lion Dance, Tai Chi, Tai Chi Sword, and Violin.
The performers devoted countless hours and tremendous amount of energy into the preparation
of these programs. Their hard-work was rewarded by the overwhelming enthusiasm and
appreciation from the audience which filled up the entire auditorium of the school.
Many of the programs such as Peacock Dance, Fashion Show, and Kung Fu were performed by
students from Lafayette High School. The cultural show was a great opportunity for the
students to use their creativity, learn teamwork, and get involved in the community. The students were
extremely dedicated to this event. For example, every piece of the peacock dance
dresses was designed and made by the students themselves.
