The After School Tutoring program was developed to help middle and elementary school students with their homework. It teaches them to independently learn to solve homework on their own with a focus on Math and English subjects. It is especially helpful for new immigrant students who primary language is not English because all of our instructors speak English fluently. Of the two hours of class time, the first hour will focus on helping students to finish their assigned homework from their primary/middle school.
During the second hour, the instructors will focus on developing a student’s interest to learn independently through arts and craft, science, math, reading and writing. Our volunteers come from different high schools throughout the city and together, will work with the students to help them learn through one on one interactions. The academic atmosphere in the center will help your child’s concentration on their homework. Both instructors and volunteers have the goal to help students improve their academic performance. The AST is designed for students from 1st to 8th Grade.
