🧧UCA Lunar New Year Celebration🧧

Our Lunar New Year celebration was a great success yesterday! The lion dance performances were majestic and spirited, the god of wealth distributed blessings abundantly, the singing and dancing performances were enchanting, and the lucky draw brought smiles to everyone's faces.

The entire event was filled with the joyous atmosphere of the new year, echoing with laughter and happiness!

We are grateful to share these wonderful moments with everyone, thankful for the recognition from elected officials for our community service, and appreciative support from our community partners . A heartfelt thank you to all members for their enthusiastic participation, especially to those who dedicated their time and effort to singing and dancing performances.

🛡️Self Defense Training🛡️

We just finished  a self-defense class and it was such an empowering experience  It’s not just about physical techniques but also understanding situational awareness and using your voice confidently!

Learning self-defense builds confidence both mentally and physically. Learning how to break free from holds, basic strikes, and defense strategies.

Thank you Asian American Federation and shout out to our fantastic instructors from Team Self Defense nyc - Sammy and Jay, they make the class such inspiring and interesting! 

Here’s a reminder that we are stronger than we think, and being prepared doesn’t mean living in fear! Stay safe and empowered!

We are more than happy to team up with Healthfirst to host the “2023 Medicare AEP presentation” both in our Stillwell center and Avenue U center!

Mr. Yu from Healthfirst delivered plenty of helpful information about Medicare benefits to the participants and their concerns got solved in the Q&A!

We definitely will bring more such helpful events to our community members

UCA partnered up with Homecrest Community Services, Inc. @Healthfirst the first Concert ”Come Sing with Us”  done!

It’s such a successful show !

Homecrest Community Center is filled up with beautiful singing and smiling faces It has it’s second name “松館”(Homecrest Coliseum , which is from Hong Kong Coliseum , the place that super stars perform their concerts )

Today at Homecrest  Community  Center we have a press conference to announce  that this Saturday 10/28 UCA team up with Homecrest Community Services, Inc.  Parent Child Relationship Association EAA 美亞共同促進會 Empowerment of American Asians Inc. South Brooklyn Community Coalition CPC Brooklyn Community Services New York Team Up “will be hosting an “Halloween Family  Fun Day ”. Thanks State Senator Iwen Chu supporting us！

It will take place on October 28th, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Seth Low Park. We also have a costume  contest ，if you dressed up very special maybe you can win a big prize!!Every Participant can get a free headphone

🍁Mid Autumn Festival Celebration!🍁

It's time to hang a lantern, play riddle games ,share mooncake, and peel a pomelo again with your loved ones! We have successfully held the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at our Stillwell Ave community center today! We are delighted to celebrate this meaningful festival and share the jubilation with all our members and friends! 

Additionally, we want to show our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all elected officials, community leaders, health partners, and sponsors for joining us at this event!  There are a bunch of raffle gifts for our participants and everyone had the satisfaction of reaping rewards!

It is a raining day but it is also a dancing day, a smiling day, a happy day, even more!! Our seniors had a great indoor picnic at Dyker Beach Golf Course !!

UCA and ACW Asian Community Watch hosted a Community Safety Training at our Stillwell Avenue office yesterday . We are blessed with an amazing presentation by ACW leaders ! We are always here to promote a safety culture within our community and will always be one of our top priorityWe also want more and more volunteers join us  to protect our communities!

🔴Stop The Bleed🔴

Thank you Leaders of Hope hosting the “Stop The Bleed”  workshop today. Thanks for New York - Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital- Trauma gave out helpful informations and skills about bleeding control!

We have an opportunity to practice with each other when someone is bleeding what we suppose to do to stop the bleeding which is an important skill that prepares for the unknown future!

Never know tomorrow and accident who comes first !! Always be prepared.

🍏Health Empowerment Event🍏

UCA was delighted to attend and receive a certificate of commendation at the Health Empowerment Celebration in Sunset Park on Saturday 8/19. UCA Lion dance team also performed for everyone at the event. We are thrilled to have shard this joyful Saturday with everyone!

Yesterday, UCA attended the cleaning park event organized by state Senator Iwen Chu. We appreciate all the hard work done by all the volunteers! We hope everyone can maintain the environment clean and don’t litter.

A friendly reminder, there will be another park cleaning next Thursday, 8/24, from 5pm-7pm. It will be at Seth Low park. We hope everyone can make the effort to join us to make the community cleaner. 🌞Summer Camp's Last Day🌞

August 18th, 2023

UCAs summer camp is ended! We are glad that we are able to meet a group of wonderful kids during the seven weeks. It’s wonderful to see the students learn in joy. And today is their graduation ceremony, the student, teacher, teacher assistants are celebrating together. They get their certificates and a little gift. We hope all of you can come back next year and creating more memories together!

Please make sure that your home has a fire alarm installed; it will protect you, your family, and your neighbor. We need you to create a fire-free community and to lower the resident-fire rate. Congratulations to all the award recipients and we are extremely grateful for all the police officers and veteran who served this community days and nights. We hope everyone can stay away from crime to make this community safer. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect our community!

On last Saturday, July 29th, UCA organized a trip for our lovely seniors to berry picking and to Woodbury shopping mall to shop. Everyone got handful of things to go home. The entire trip is full with laughters and joy. We are glad that everyone enjoyed the trip. UCA can’t wait for the next trip!

Today UCA attend the rally raised by Senator Iwen Chu to ban the toll fee for entering Manhattan. Even though today was extremely hot, but there are many people came out to support this rally. We want to give a special thanks to Joyous for providing many beautiful songs for Southern Brooklyn seniors to enjoy. We are glad that all the incoming seniors enjoyed the songs, raffles, and refreshments.

Our seniors had a wonderful night at Dyker Beach Golf Course on June 19th !!Dancing , drinks, food filled up the lovely night!

 And also on June 22nd all the seniors celebrated Chinese traditional holiday- Dragon Boat Festival at Park Asia! There are amazing Dance Show and Karaoke during the event.

On June 13th, UCA celebrated our annual Parents Day celebration event at Seaport Buffet with our beloved community members to show them appreciation. The event was a wonderful opportunity to wish our parents a wonderful and happy Parent’s Day.

We also want to thank all the elected officials, community leaders, and health partners who came in to celebrate with us.

🌼Spring into Health Press Conference🌼

UCA hosted a press conference for our Saturday (6/17/23) Event, “Spring into Health” today, June 14th. At the event, we will have nutritionist, Ida Lam, to speak about diabetes and nutrition. In addition to the seminar, there will be booths giving out free stuff! At the end we will be doing a raffle! We welcome everyone to join us on this special event.

Summer Kickoff Event

Thank you Councilwoman Inna Vernikov for having us for the Summer Kickoff event at Brighton Beach Playground with other organizations and vendors. We gave out a lot of COVID Testing kits and other giveaway as well as to promote NYS of Health to the community. We are also happy to see Asian Community Watch there and they patrol Ave. U to make sure our community is safe.

Our first traditional watercolor painting session today in the Stillwell office! It is amazing how the instructor is able to take the participants through the  painting process and explore the many watercolor techniques to create a sense of place and mood.  Everyone is so captivated by the art work and is fully immersed in the beautifully watercolor painting moment

It’s that time of year again! The annual Lunar New Year spirits have started popping up around our communities, we say goodbye to the tiger and greet the rabbit. 2023 is all about the 4th animal in the Chinese calendar, signifying a kind, energetic, and resilient animal representing patience and respecting others. Many have joined us today in welcoming the Year of the Rabbit and helped to spread the cheers along with the amazing lion dance and singing performances, red envelopes cards, lucky raffle drawings, and scrumptious food inspired by Lunar New Year traditions.

We want to voice our appreciation to all the Elected Officials, Community Leaders, Captain Lau and the 62nd precinct officers, and all our Health Partners for always showing their support and attending this event with us to make it memorable!

And a special thanks to Edward R. Murrow High School for making the creative red envelopes cards for this event! Let's carry the hope and vibrancy of the Rabbit around with you all this year!

We walked along 86th street, Bay Parkway, 18th Ave, and Ave U on both days to visit local businesses and stores to bring good luck and good fortune throughout the neighborhood!

We hosted a very successful Healthy Eating Workshop with Rendr and United Healthcare today at our center. A huge thank you to Dr. David Zhuang from Rendr Care for delivering such a useful and engaging session to our senior members!

We have had really positive feedback from the participants and a special thanks to United Healthcare for sponsoring the gifts!! And thank you to everyone who attended today’s workshop. We will be organizing more of these health seminars for the community in the future

Such a fun and family-friendly Halloween Wellness and Family Day event on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at Leif Ericson Park! UCA 20th  Anniversary Gala

This year, UCA has reached its 20th Anniversary and we celebrate this momentous occasion at Park Asia Restaurant. Thank you to all who attended this amazing gala with us on October 27th and we appreciate all your support of our 20th anniversary celebration! We were thrilled to be surrounded by all of you with your tremendous cheer and jubilation last night!

Congratulations again to all our honorees of the night and our sincerest thanks to all the elected officials, community leaders, our sponsors, guests, donors, and volunteers who made it a successful and memorable event!  We’re already looking forward to next year!

Congratulations to United Chinese Association of Brooklyn for being honored at Mayor Eric Adams Mid-Autumn Moon Festival held at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan on Friday Sep.9th.

We are so honored to have our work recognized in this way by Mayor and it means so much to us that the work that we are so passionate about also resonates with others. And also thanks to community base leaders and the community members for their strong support to UCA.

UCA has served community for 20 years since it was founded in 2002. In the future we will continue our efforts to develop a harmonious and civil mindedness community as always and look forward to create a great community with all of you!

2022 Mid-Autumn Festival!

It's time to hang a lantern, share mooncake, and peel a pomelo again with your loved ones! We have successfully held the 2022 Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at the King Crab Station today! This year we made it extra special to combine the September Birthday Party along with this celebration and we are so happy that we can come together like this to celebrate this meaningful festival and share the jubilation with all our members and friends!  Additionally, we want to show our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all elected officials, community leaders, health partners, and sponsors for joining us at this event!  There are a bunch of raffle gifts for our participants and everyone had the satisfaction of reaping rewards! And please don’t forget to enjoy some yummy snow-skin mooncakes  at today's event with your family. We are wishing everyone a very blessed and happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

Ahead of the peak of the fall flu season, UCA partnered with Medcare Pharmacy and Assemblyman William Colton‘s office yesterday to host the Free Flu Shot event at our office to help keep everyone safe and protected during this flu season!

True Care Home Care PPE kits Giveaway

UCA partnered up with the True Care Home Care today at our office today to give out PPE kits to the community members to keep everyone safe and healthy this flu season!

UCA Wellness Fair & Family Day

August 7, 2022

Like every year, UCA hosted their Wellness Fair and Family Day on a hot summer-like day in August. The health fair is being held on the crowed 23rd Avenue between 86th and 85th Street

to offer free community resources and to help raise health awareness for everyone in the community. The sizzling heat wave did not hinder the success of this event. An estimated 500-600 people stopped to get free health screenings and receive valuable information pertinent to their individual and families' health, and the communities' landscape of comprehensive health initiatives.

We are so pleased to be able to offer these resources to our community members and connect with the greater Bensonhurst community. Shout-out and a grateful appreciation to our sponsors/partners for making this event possible. Extensive thanks to all participants and supporters of this health fair! Continue to stay safe and cool in the heat wave!

在這炎炎夏日中，華聯會一年一度的夏季醫學常識講座及家庭同樂日活動也於今天圓滿結束！今年我們特別選擇在周日舉辦這個活動，讓大家可以趁著放假帶著家人和孩子們參加活動的同時也可藉助活動了解更多社區資源。現場除了各類醫療資訊、醫學講座，各種趣味遊戲以及與生活息息相關的政府福利信息等。大家都紛紛到不同的攤位諮詢、進行檢測，和獲得所需的各類健康信息。

Commissioner Manuel Castro's Visit

We are so honored to have Commissioner Manuel Castro and his amazing Neighborhood Organizer Lydia Li from the Mayor Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) at our community center today to meet with our community members and get to know them better!

Thank you Commissioner for taking the time to step in to our community to learn more about the needs and resources for the newly arrived immigrant families in our community.

United Chinese Association of Brooklyn Reopening

United Chinese Association of Brooklyn reopen our community center at 1787 Stilwell Avenue for all indoor & recreational activities today after long COVID-19 closures. We are so excited to have everyone back as far as the members and our staff is looking forward to really what’s next in this process and future events at the center!!We are beyond thrilled and everyone look so happy and so grateful!

Parent’s Day

We celebrated Parent’s Day today at King Crab Station with all our beloved community members to show them some appreciation all at once. While we think we should be showering our parents with love and cherishment everyday, we would still like to take this opportunity to wish them a wonderful happy Parent’s Day and they deserve our honor and respect for their sacrifices.

And a big thank you to all the elected officials , community leaders, and health partners who attended the event today. Without your support, this would not have been possible!
